Very sad evening. Empty Very sad evening.

Post by daisydotes Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:57 pm

Just thought I would let you all know that my dear old boy had to be PTS tonight aged 14 years.
He was the last cat of three I had for my silver wedding anniversary so an era has passed.

He has suffered with diabetes for a few months now and after much deep thought we decided tonight he had come to the end of the road as he was so confused and disorientated had bad abcesses in his mouth and had lost control of his bladder.

He went very quickly and very peacefully in my arms with my special vet looking after him.

Not really sure if Rainbow Bridge is just for dogs but I didn't think anyone would mind Eric sharing the freedom and pain free life over the bridge where he will meet up with his sister Charlie and brother Dexter.

RIP old fella.

thanks guys I know I had to let him go he had really had enough of living but it is still hard even though you know you are doing the right thing.

It is so good to have somwhere like STW to come and share your pain with people who really understand so many folks think "Oh it was only a cat" and have no conception of how they are part of your family.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, when our pets are in pain we have to do what is best for them, even though it's painful for us.

When our cat Spooky died, I was shattered, cried contantly...I kept thinking, Why am I crying over a cat!!, but as you say they are not "just a cat" they are part of the family. My cats and Willow are like my children wub

Hope your running free at rainbow bridge Eric...rest in peace.

This is one of the main reasons we are here, to help each other through the bad times, when i lost my Ellie you were all here for me and you helped me through it, and i will never forget it wub

Never 'just' a cat, part of your life and he was lucky to be loved by someone like you.

So sorry to hear of your loss Sandra. There is no such thing as 'just a cat', just as there is no 'just dog/pony/hamster/whatever'. The comfort and love that these animals give us really do stay with us forever, and he, and his brother and sister, will always be in your heart.

Run free, no more pain, just lots of mice to chase and toys to play with.

Big hugs and kisses to you all.

Oh sandra... I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Eric. At least you know he is no longer in any pain, and is enjoying a big saucer of cream at rainbow bridge! I remember when we lost our cat and it was so hard. Yes, they are as much a part of the family as anyone else. Well, we are all here for you. Hope you are ok. big armhug
