Wolftucker ingredients
I've been partially defrosting and then refreezing the WT food as one pack has enough for 6 meals and I like to vary what I feed Daisy. Anyway I have devised a system so that I can portion all the food up and with the help of some coloured stickers I can tell which ones have heart, kidney, tripe or bone in them.
Today I was doing the beef and tripe one and I noticed the ingredient list on the box wasn't the same as what is on the WT website. On the box it says the food has heart in it, but on their website no mention of it. I haven't gone through all the others yet, partly because I have now thrown away some of the boxes. I have to say it annoys me a bit as I like to make sure Daisy is getting the right ratios of food and I do feed her extra heart, liver and kidney when she is eating something that has none in it, plus I like to give her some foods with no bone in when she's had something like a chicken carcass.
I don't think it's too much to ask that the ingredient lists are consistent and now I'm not sure which one is correct

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
That's very organised Jesus makes me think I am not doing it right :-( I am going to butchers in a min see if I can get tripe and liver. How much chicken caucus do u fed daisy ?
Never really thought about looking at ingredients an checking website.
That like wt though but think about getting ni as they do a 1kg block I feed just over a whole block a day for my 3 the defrosting is a nightmare . I also need a freezer for Dog stuff.
U seem so organised I think I need to get some box to read.
I ran out of wt yest and went to p&h got nuggets as I did not wanna go on biscuits. They all have had so many poops today not bad ones just so many no good at all
Sorry for rambling lol

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Whatever you do don't get tripe from the butchers as you can only get white tripe - you need green tripe for the nutritional value! There is no need to get other stuff if you are using a complete raw diet from a manufacturer as they have done the calculations for you and your dogs would be getting a balanced diet.... start adding things singly and adding oils and things and you could come a cropper.
Lyn you seem to have the gist of things so why don't you just go the whole hog and do it yourself?? I don't because I don't have the time to work out what I need and get the stuff in so something like wolftucker is ideal for me.

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Lesley I feel like I am kind of doing half of it myself and relying on the minces for the other half. For me the complete minced foods are ideal in the mornings so I take out a days worth of WT and Daisy has a meal of that first thing. For her evening meal I try to give her a raw meaty bone like chicken or lamb or a piece of heart, tripe, venison or something similar and I tend to give her that meal in the garden so that she doesn't make a mess in the house. I got the salmon oil as she seems to not want to eat the sprats now and I know if she is only having one WT meal in the morning she isn't getting enough fish oil but I won't be giving it to her every day just in case it's too much for her.
Liz I would carry on with the wings and hearts. I know someone who fed her dog only hearts for 16yrs, not that I would recommend that as they are high in cholesterol I think, but not all the WT food has heart in it, which is why I label all my foods up so that I can get a balance over a period of time. Also your dogs will be benefiting from chewing the bones when you give them a piece of chicken with bone in it.

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
To be honest I was looking at raw to paw but sayin that as a complete novice I don't wanna mess it up with all the minces etc
So I can feed wt mince on a morning and some bone/offal stuff on a night but not to mix and match !
Oooopppsssss !
Henry and cathy had a drumstick today for dinner loved it maggie looked at me like a complete fool and had chicken wings
Saying all this they have all maintain weight and health so can't be doing all wrong

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Liz you can mix and match as much as you like as long as you get the overall percentages right over a period of time, which is 70/80% meat, 10/20% bone & 10% offal. I have WT, Prize Choice, Natures Menu and DAF minces in my freezer. The WT and Natures Menu are complete foods but the others aren't as far as I know. I buy liver and kidneys from Tesco and slice them up, freeze them and pop a piece in Daisy's food every couple of days, depending on whether there is liver already in what she's had. I haven't noticed kidney in any of the foods, even the complete diets, not sure why they don't include them. On days when I feed Daisy a meal with a lot of bone, like say a chicken carcass, then I will give her something like tripe or heart for her next meal so that she doesn't get too much bone. I'm still learning to be honest. I pay more attention to what Daisy is eating than what I am eating

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Hi Liz it sounds like it was Bile. Could he be having a bit of empty tummy syndrome. How long ago had Henry eaten? Mali and Tasha have that now and then especially if they haven't eaten a little while. Generally in the mornings.
Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Liz forgot to mention I considered Raw to Paw but thought the delivery charge was quite high. There is also RAW to GO I think I am right they are the ones in Abergavenny and their delivery is about almost £10 but you can order up to 40lbs in weight of food and just packs of what you want.
Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Think the battle of delivery is alway high 6:30 plUs craziness. Been looking around as I need to bulk buy

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Liz that does sound like bile, Daisy gets that too but she never had it before she was on raw food. I try to give her a small snack at bedtime so that she doesn't go too long with nothing inside her. I guess as the raw food goes through their system much quicker then that's why they can get that.
The delivery costs are a nuisance aren't they. I am paying 2 lots of delivery as I can't get everything I want from WT so it does make it all very expensive

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
U can imagine with 3 dogs I had to by a chest frezzer so I can buy in bulk now. Hence looking at raw 2 paw
Must have been hungry then he has never had that before poor boy so it was my fault feel double bad :-(
Do u still give biscuit treats or does this ruin the raw feeding. I have some lily kitchen treat and was unsure to give then or not

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Liz no it's not your fault. The raw food goes through their system faster than processed food that's all. I guess it affects some dogs more than others. Daisy doesn't have it all the time, but when she does I will remember for a few evenings to give her something when she goes to bed and then I forget! I give something like a small dried meat treat, I wouldn't give her anything that was processed as most of those kinds of biscuits have grain in them and we think Daisy is grain intolerant so I don't want to risk them with her.Liz b wrote:U can imagine with 3 dogs I had to by a chest frezzer so I can buy in bulk now. Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Yes as Lyn says give Henry something before bedtime, that should help. Mine always have something after I have taken them outside for their last comfort stop before bed. In fact Tasha races in to the house because she knows she will get a treat before bed and sits just inside as she knows that where I keep their treats.
Re: Wolftucker ingredients
Raw food (meat) does not go through the system faster than processed food and in fact fills them for longer!
Re: Wolftucker ingredients

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
They seem to say all the time on the fb raw food groups that processed food digests at a slower rate than raw food which is why you aren't supposed to mix kibble with raw food.simbalove wrote:Raw food (meat) does not go through the system faster than processed food and in fact fills them for longer!
This is what it says on one of the fb groups, I'll have to ask them where they get that info.
They may seem hungrier than normal, again this is ok and to be expected. The food is not in their stomachs as long as kibble and is pure rather than bulked out with fillers.

They do reckon dogs are able to keep to their ideal weight more easily on a raw diet as it's not full of rubbish

Wow yes Liz that sure is a lot of food. What I have found with Mali &Tasha is that they don't always eat a meal twice a day so it doesn't work out as much as you think it is going to.Has your new freezer arrived? Which company did you order the Daf food from as I know there are one or two that stock it and has it arrived yet?
Re: Wolftucker ingredients

Re: Wolftucker ingredients
I might give the Nutriment a try next time I place an order as right now I am having to order the WT and then place a separate order for the raw meaty bones and chunks and it does work out to be a lot of money just for p&p. There is a supplier in Chesham, which isn't too far from us, who does Nutriment and MVM so might give them a try just to see how it works out, although I do feel the WT is probably a better food.
