licking urine
Please can someone tell me if it is normal for dogs to lick their urine? Biscuit always turns around and then laps up the urine. I do pick him up quickly so he doesn't get a chance if I catch him.

Re: licking urine
I have not had a problem like that but then mine are both girls . Mind you Tasha will lick most other things. I am sure someone else might have some ideas on that.

Re: licking urine
Roxy does this and the poo business. She licks her own wee and Rooney's wee. I am constantly watching her and telling her off and i think it is slowly getting through. Roxy relies alot on treats as when she goes outside then comes back in she waits at the treat drawer so I should really be giving her a treat whilst outside when she does not do it. She is so clever though, she knows when your not watching.
I was up with Roxy last night as she had some poo and when she has her tea, she seems to reject it later on in the night. I slept on the settee and she was in the puppy bed.

Re: licking urine
It can be a problem (for us humans not the dogs
)
I think the treat route is the way to go, always make sure you are with him when he goes to the loo and then quickly distract him with lots of praise and a treat.
Another solution is to allow your pup to wee on grass but that of course is not so easy if you only have concrete or patio. Once he is old enough to go for walks and also starts to control his bladder - and particularly when he starts to cock his leg - then it won't be a problem anymore (although of course male dogs like to lick and scent other nice smells on walks too if you let them

ICK! I've had a problem with Danny eating his own poop. YUCK if that isn't a disgusting habit I don't know what is. My vet gave him some medication called "Forbid" and so far so good. (fingers crossed)
